Abstract:   

In an earlier talk, I had discussed the importance of lithium occurrences, applications and sustainable energy systems. In this talk. I propose to address the importance of rare-earth minerals and other critical minerals in energy sustenance, which is essential in providing us with integrated energy solutions for our sustainable growth and development in the future.. 

About the speaker:  

Prof G Parthasarathy is an INSA Senior Scientist and Adjunct Professor at the School of Natural Sciences and Engineering, NIAS. He obtained his doctorate in physics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 1984; was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow (1987–1988); a faculty at the Materials Science Centre, IISc (1984–1988); and has worked at Cornell University, Ithaca, USA (1989–1990, the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (1990–2018) and at NIAS (since 2018). He has to his credit about 260 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and eight patents.
