Speculative Urbanism: Land, Livelihoods, and Finance Capital

Funded by the National Science Foundation (USA), is being carried out in collaboration with the colleagues in the Departments of Sociology and Geography at the University of Minnesota and the Geography Department at UCLA (USA). This project (2017-2021) is a comparative study of changes in land use, property relations, livelihoods and urban ecologies in the context of rapid urban growth and the circulation of finance capital into the real estate sector, in Bangalore and Jakarta.
