Urban and Mobility Studies

Over the course of the year 2020-21, faculty of the Urban and Mobility Studies Programme worked on the analysis, writing-up and dissemination of the findings of three recently completed research projects. A NIAS Policy Brief, based on the project India’s Changing Cityscapes (in collaboration with ISEC, Bengaluru) highlighted the dissonances and gaps in the current skilling paradigm in the country.

Kshipra Jain is Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Rajasthan and is currently on lien to pursue her research as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Inequality and Human Development Programmme of School of Social Sciences, National Institute of Advanced Studies. She obtained PhD in Development Studies from the International Institute of Population Sciences, Mumbai in 2017. Kshipra has a double Masters in Economics and Population Studies. Her teaching interests includes Econometrics, Development Economics, Demography and Health Economics. Her research work is primarily focused on gender studies, financial literacy, financial inclusion, health inequalities and ageing.

Debosree Banerjee

Debosree Banerjee is an applied microeconomist by training. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Gottingen, Germany. Debosree’s research interests are in the areas of Development Economics and Public Policy. Her current research examines the various aspects of development and inequalities in India. For her research, she has conducted extensive fieldwork in Indian states of West Bengal, Meghalaya and Karnataka.
